Causes of Dandruff

On a hot summer day, even the pavements are heated enough to fry an egg and you’re emitting smoke like a dragon from your nostrils, give your head a jerk and then take a look over your shoulders; you can bet upon seeing snow flakes! Yes, I mean the dandruff! Hey, don’t feel embarrassed; you’re not the only one suffering the setback; there’re millions out there. Resulting from excessive skin cells on the scalp, there are loads of theories supporting the cause of dandruff. And what are they? Come, let’s find out….

1. Following several medical synopsis and theoretical studies, this seems to the one of the most predominant factors manifesting those itchy, annoying “snow-white” flakes in the scalp. Yes, hormonal imbalances take up the lead when it comes to dandruff talks. Typically a feminine problem, intake of contraceptive pills, pregnancy/ child birth, menstruation or menopause basically initiates hormonal changes thus leading to dandruff formation. And incase you find yourself being troubled by those by annoying white flakes too often, it is advisable that you cut off your exposure to supplemental “hormonal diet” namely, consumption of the red meat, dairy products and even fish, as much as possible.

2. It is the paucity of fatty acids that gives birth to a dry and flaky skin covering your body, and even your scalp is not spared. So what does it imply? Simple; a balanced diet comprising of some fresh fruits, raw and green leafy veggies, loads of proteins, irons and vitamins and certainly whole grains and consumption of some of the indispensable fatty acids in the masquerade of borage oil, fish oil, flaxseed oil, on a regular basis. The cause of dandruff could also be related to the deficit of vitamin B-complex and selenium, so don’t miss out upon them too!

3. Studies revealed that perspiration could be noted as yet another cause leading to dandruff difficulties. When we perspire it’s our scalp that gets affected first and foremost. To keep dandruff at bay courtesy perspiration, regular use of shampoo and conditioner are very much advisable.

4. Overgrowth of skin yeast or fungus – Pityrosporum Ovale leads to dandruff troubles. When suffering from fungal infections, you need to consult your physician and straight away turn to some of the helpful probiotics. Antifungal shampoos do also help a lot.

5. Last, yet not the least – detect if the source of your dandruff difficulty lies somewhere in your hair styling products or blow dryers. If so, eliminate their usage at once!
